Meet the Shedders
15th June in Chelmsford
Men's Sheds are communal work spaces (not necessarily sheds) where men gather to make, mend and learn in a friendly and welcoming environment.
In Australia, the home of the Men's Shed, they describe them as 'half way between work and home'. As members of each Shed - sometimes known as 'shedders' - agree their programme of activity, they vary greatly. But all Sheds have the overall aim of keeping men healthier and happier for longer.
The 'Meet the Shedders - East of England' event is one of eight organised under the umbrella of the UK Men's Sheds Association. It aims to help leaders of existing Sheds and planners of new Sheds to exchange their top tips with each other and share their learning with representatives from agencies interested in the health and wellbeing of men, particularly those in the 50+ age group.
The morning session is for organisers of existing Sheds across the East of England and those thinking of starting new ones. At lunchtime, we invite representatives from local authorities, national charities, and other organisations working in the community wanting to find out more about the Men's Shed concept to join the shedders.
The event, including lunch, is free thanks to funding support from the Big Lottery's Awards for All scheme, Royal Voluntary Service, Triton Tools, and Essex County Council
