 Absenteeism costs charities time and money, and can lead to poor staff morale.

This practical course drawing on the latest best practice, will show you how to manage staff absence effectively and fairly.

It will be led by one of the VCS's foremost HR consultants Gill Taylor.

Line managers, HR staff and trustees.

What is it about?
This one day course introduces you to the legal and best practice requirements for managing staff absence. By examining a range of case studies, you will find out how to accurately monitor absence rates, benchmark your organisation's performance and develop evidence-based strategies for maintaining a low absence rate.

What will I learn?
By the end of the day you will have an increased understanding of:

  • what you and your organisation can do to manage absence and sickness
  • the legal context for managing absence, including persistent short term absences, long term sickness, absence and stress, absence and mental health issues and dismissal
  • developing good practice procedures and policies for your organisation
  • planning and conducting a return to work interview.
