Supervised Tooth Brushing for National Smile Month

Supervised Tooth Brushing for National Smile Month

Community Dental Services (CDS) Oral Health Promotion Team from Leicestershire visited the children from Old Dalby Preschool, Melton Mowbray earlier in the month to share tooth brushing techniques with children and parents.

Following the success of the CDS pilot Supervised Tooth brushing scheme in April, we have continued to promote Supervised Tooth brushing in Preschools and Nurseries throughout National Smile month.

Parents from Old Dalby Preschool, said

""He talks about brushing all the time and his brushing has improved at home…
She's always telling me about her blue toothbrush and she really likes brushing at Preschool. It's encouraging her to brush at home too…
The programme has made my son much more aware about brushing his teeth"

Leonie Miller, Old Dalby Preschool said:

"The tooth brushing programme has so far been a huge success and the children really enjoy brushing, even those who were reluctant at first are now confident brushers. We've had a lot of positive feedback from parents and overall it has improved knowledge and awareness of the importance of looking after children's teeth. I would definitely recommend this programme to others."
