Menta, Suffolk's business support organisation has launched a new initiative in Ipswich with support from chartered accountants and business advisors, Larking Gowen.

Menta Jelly, Ipswich will take place on Wednesday 20January at Epsilon House, Ransomes. A jelly is a recognised name for informal co-working events where freelancers, small and micro business owners bring their laptop and work, chat and collaborate with other small businesses.

The aim of Menta Jelly is to provide a free meeting space for like-minded people to work together and exchange help and advice.

Larking Gowen, a well-known East Anglian firm of chartered accountants and business advisors, is providing the financial support to enable the first series of events in Ipswich to take place.

Becky Ames, Partner in the Business and Private team at Larking Gowen, commented, "We've been helping Menta trial the initiative in Bury St Edmunds and we're now convinced that the programme is a great addition to its services hence the Menta Jelly's will now run in Ipswich, Haverhill and Bury St Edmunds."

"This is our way to show support to small micro businesses, the self-employed and freelancers.

"We understand how hard it can be when working alone or when starting out.  This is a great opportunity for business owners to bring their laptops, enjoy the buzz of working alongside others, and maybe find ways to collaborate with each other to mutual benefit."

Alex Till, chief executive of Menta said, "My thanks to Larking Gowen, who were fully supportive of the concept from the off.

"Being your own boss can cause a sense of isolation so Menta Jelly's will be a regular feature to enable people to hot desk in a relaxed, informal working environment to maximise creativity."

From January 2016 Menta Jelly will be held in Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Haverhill providing free desk space, Wi-Fi and refreshments to freelancers, home workers and small micro business owners. There is no charge, but booking is essential.
