Leading Lives Celebrates
Social care provider, Leading Lives has celebrated its sixth birthday as an independent social enterprise providing a range of high quality social care to families across Suffolk and neighbouring counties. It was one of the first social care public sector mutuals to be created and is a past winner of Health and Social Care Social Enterprise of the Year.
Since then, Leading Lives has evolved from a single contract with Suffolk County Council, developing new services and acquiring contracts with county councils in Suffolk, Essex, Norfolk and Cambridgeshire and the NHS. It provides 13 different day time opportunity services, four short break respite services, 20 supported housing and supported living schemes and Independence Plus domiciliary support to enable people with complex needs to remain independent in their own homes and connected to their communities.
Recent service innovations include a professional service review offer for Suffolk County Council, 'BASE' clubs for young people with additional needs, a learning for living project to help young people acquire independent living skills and Compass Café in Lowestoft to offer supported work experience for adults.
Tony Carr, Leading Lives, Managing Director said: 'It has been a challenging and rewarding six years that has seen us respond to changing market conditions to shape a dynamic range of services that deliver real value for money for commissioners and the high quality care that families deserve.'
