Cambridge Social Ventures has a lot on offer...

Social Venture Weekends: November or February

This workshop in Cambridge is for anyone setting up or growing a business that makes social or environmental impact. We help entrepreneurs explore new ideas, polish up a business plan and get control of the numbers, with a strong focus on social impact in the context of creating and scaling a business.

  • Belinda Bell will talk through the Business Model Canvas and our mentors will help ventures interrogate their own business models
  • Andrea Cockerton will be back with her fabulous, energetic pitching and presentation workshop
  • Simon Stockley will cover finance and get you into the lean mindset of an entrepreneur

This specialist training at Cambridge Judge Business School is just £75, with discounts available for people experiencing financial hardship, particularly those from the East of England or working with disadvantaged communities.

12-month incubator programme: December deadline for a January start

The incubator provides a year of tailored support, helping growing social ventures develop a sustainable business, find customers and raise investment. In our first two years, we've supported more than 70 ventures with expert mentoring, training and networking events.

This intense programme of support includes:

  • A dedicated business advisor for one-to-one guidance
  • Monthly training and networking days in Cambridge
  • Support to access finance, including a loan fund from Foundation East and guidance in approaching investors
  • Free co-working office space in at the Future Business Centre in Cambridge
  • Discount business technology through AWS Activate (Amazon) and Microsoft Bizspark
  • A range of opportunities through Cambridge Judge Business School and Allia Future Business Centre

The application process is deliberately simple - we look for potential, not a polished pitch. The deadline to be considered for the January 2017 cohort is Friday 2nd December 2016. We assess applications as they come in, so apply early if possible.

Best wishes,

Tamzin
