What does your social enterprise sell? 

Based in Hutton we, as a charity, provide household furniture for instance, sofas, tables & chairs, beds & bedroom furniture, along with fully tested white goods i.e. washing machines, fridge/freezers, other small appliances and a variety of household goods.  "Everything to turn a house into a Home!"

We stock a limited range of office furniture from desks to chairs along with refurbished PC's & Laptops.  We are also members of the Community Repaint Scheme offering recycled domestic paint to the public.


How can members of the public/businesses buy it? 


We are all inclusive and open to everyone.   We operate a dual pricing policy, for customers on means tested benefit we offer reduced prices with a saving of typically 10-20%.  All customers pop into the store and select the items they want to buy.  We have prices to suit every budget.

We provide a delivery service based on your post code with a one-off charge regardless of the number of items purchased.  We also offer a connection service for appliances including gas cookers.


Why should people try to #buysocial? What impact do your customers make?

We are so much more that just a second-hand furniture store.  We are here for the community, preventing things going into landfill, meeting a real need in terms of providing low cost quality used furniture and appliances, providing work experience and training and in some cases jobs for long term unemployed, rebuilding their self-esteem and confidence.  Consequently, there is significant social value in what we do and a large environmental impact through re-use.


Why did you start your social enterprise/what motivates you and/or your team?

Our Christian faith is what caused us to start such an enterprise.  We are motivated each day by the differences we bring, the help we offer and the hope we can provide to those struggling to make end meets or unable to help themselves.  We can and do make a very real difference to hundreds of lives each year.


What does 'success' look like for your social enterprise?

Providing an outstanding service to the community, helping those in need, sometimes for free, diverting lots from landfill, and giving people the opportunity to fulfil their potential and go on into employment.


What's been the most difficult thing about running your social enterprise?

The balance between helping as many people as we can and the need to be sustainable and professional.


What's been the most rewarding experience running your social enterprise?

Knowing that we are making a real difference for thousands of people over the last 13 years
